Experimental data of the fog unit

The project “Individual Heat Supply with Integrated Fog Unit System (IFUS)” collects experimental data at three boiler capacities (10 kW, 20 kW, 30 kW) and nozzles (MPL 1.51, MPL 1.12, MPL 0.77) used to obtain the data set to be analysed. The data analysis program Statgraphics XVII performed experimental data analysis to determine what parameters affect the capacity of the fog unit and the efficiency of particulate matter (PM). Regression analysis was performed to determine the parameters affecting the capacity of the fog unit, in which the dependent variables are: Flue gas temperature at inlet (tg1) and outlet (tg2); Water.

World famous professor in system dynamics David Wheat started his lectures in Riga Technical University

On the 3rd of September guest lectures led by world famous professor David Wheat on system dynamics started for students of “Environmental Science” programme in the Institute of Energy Systems and Environment of the Riga Technical University. David Wheat received his master’s degree at Harvard University and his PhD in System Dynamics at the University of Bergen in 2007. David Wheat is past-president of the economics chapter of the International System Dynamics Society, is a member of the Scientific Committees of the international journals (“System Dynamics Review”, “International Journal of Pluralism and Economics Education”), and is a co-author of several.

Seminar “Sustainable and Flexible Energy Use”

Integrating renewable energy into existing systems; Multifaceted energy efficiency: different users, different options; Energy tariffs: from regulated tariffs to benchmark; These and many other questions will be answered in the seminar "Sustainable and Flexible Energy Use" on June 20 from 10:00-13:00, organised within EU Sustainable Energy Week. The seminar is organized by Institute of Energy Systems and Environment, Riga Technical University, Latvia. Lecturers have extensive experience in energy end-users (industry, municipalities, residential sector, etc.), as well as in integrating renewable energy into the Latvian energy sector. We are convinced that it is possible to reduce energy consumption by 5-15% without.

Looking back at the international scientific conference CONECT 2019

In the mid-May we had one of the most anticipated annual events - international scientific conference CONECT 2019, organized by RTU Institute of Energy Systems and Environment. The conference was attended by 110 participants from Latvia and 22 foreign countries. For two days, scientists presented their latest research at plenary sessions, panel sessions and poster sessions. On the third day the conference ended with a technical tour to the modern organic cosmetics factory of AS MADARA COSMETICS and a tour to Old Riga. Conference papers will be published in special issues of Journal of Environmental Management and Journal of Environmental.

Online survey for SMEs

Within the project Test-4-SME an online survey for SMEs has been developed and launched to analyse the quality and capability of testing services and identify the gaps. The survey is conducted in all countries of the Baltic Sea region and its results will be used to improve the availability of laboratory collaborations and testing services. We kindly invite every SMEs which develops electronic products to fill in this survey. Survey is launched online in 6 languages: English Estonian Finnish German Latvian Lithuanian

Summer School “Latvian Biocapacity”

Successfully finished RTU IESE organized Summer School "Latvian Biocapacity" which was held in Riga, Latvia, August 13-22. 13 participants from 11 countries took part in this summer school. Under the guidance of RTU academic staff and experienced guides participants learned about Latvian culture and natural resources and learned how to produce high value-added products from local resources and how to use of resources without leaving any residue. Participants also had to create an innovative product from natural materials by themselves, develop a product concept and analyze the life-cycle of this product as well as make economic, social and environmental assessment..

Looking back on the international conference CONECT 2018

In the mid-May we had one of the most anticipated annual events - international scientific conference CONECT 2018, organized by RTU Institute of Energy Systems and Environment. The conference was attended by 80 participants from Latvia and 17 foreign countries. For two days, scientists presented their latest research at plenary sessions and posters sessions. Discussion “Women in Engineering in Latvia”

The winner of the prize "RTU Scientist of the Year 2017", habilitated engineering science doctor Dagnija Blumberga with the support of the Nordic Information Center invites to the discussion "Women in Engineering in Latvia". Discussion will be held on April 10, 2018 at Āzenes iela 12/k1, room 607. The aim of the discussion is to continue the discussion started in Nordic countries on women’s role in engineering and opportunities to participate equally in development countries. Conference of Environmental and Climate Technologies CONECT 2017

May 10–12 CONECT 2017 took place in RTU EEF. Within these days profesors, researchers, scientists and students from 25 countries presented their publications. Participants came from various continenta and countries – South Korea, Kazahstan, Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands, Baltics and many others. 16 various topics were represented in this conference about the latest solutions, trends, novelties and technological development. The discussed and presented themes were various and related to renewable energy, smart grids, building efficiency, ecodesign, resilience, low carbon development and all linked with an aim of environmental protection and resource efficiency. The presented papers will be published in Elsevier.
