Guest lecture on chemicals’ environmental fate and modern risk assessment by professor from Finland

On April 16, at 16:30-19:50 Dr.Arto Sormunen will visit the Institute of Energy Systems and Environment, RTU, to give lectures on chemicals’ behavior in soils/sediments, their environmental fate and factors behind that. Dr.Arto Sormunen will also discuss modern risk assessment methods.
The lecture will be given in the Faculty of Power and Electrical Engineering, Āzenes Street 12/1, room 115. The lecture will be given in English. Everyone interested is kindly invited to attend the lecture.
Dr. Arto Sormunen is the head of degree programme of Environmental Engineering in Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Finland). His special field is ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry: factors affecting bioavailability (desorption, sorption, chemical concentration in pore water), bioaccumulation and toxicity of chemicals.
His lecture topics cover: environmental chemistry, environmental monitoring, contaminated soils, research methods and written communication, project management, water acquisition and treatment, environmental sampling.
