Measures to control the spruce bark beetle: development of a damage assessment tool (iTypographus) and a new pest control technique
The spruce bark beetle Ipstypographus is a serious threat to European spruce forests, especially pure stands of spruce. The unidentified pest, and therefore the delayed response, poses a particular threat to small and medium-sized forest owners, who lack the necessary knowledge to effectively detect and manage such an infestation. The project aims to reduce the spread and damage of Ipstypographus in spruce forests. To achieve this, a user-friendly platform will be developed during the project to enable small and medium-sized forest owners to assess the risk of Ipstypographus infestation and its potential impact on the health of their forest.
