The event is organized to introduce scientists to the cutting-edge achievements in the fields of energy systems and environmental engineering and to provide researchers – especially doctoral students – with the opportunity to publish the results of their work.
Each year, CONECT brings together around 200 scientists and researchers from more than 25 countries.

Conference papers are published in an Open Access journal Environmental and Climate Technologies https://ect-journals.rtu.lv/ and are indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. A selection of papers is recommended for submission as extended publications to other journals, which are also indexed in the Scopus database.

]]>The seminar will be held on the 11th and 12th of April at the Polytechnic of Turin in the classrooms of the Valentino Castle (address: Viale Pier Andrea Mattioli, 39 – 10125, Torino).
This two-day seminar looks into energy efficiency in buildings and building deep renovation, analysing technical, economic, and financial solutions. The seminar also goes beyond the simple concept of project appraisal, introducing specific environmental approaches like Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
This seminar introduces the use of two software packages: TRNSYS, used to simulate the behaviour of transient systems and SimaPro, used to collect, analyse and monitor the sustainability performance data of products and services.

With this aim, a full capacity building program dedicated to improving energy performance through direct training and e-learning has been designed and created by a team of experts coming from both the private and public sectors.
ICCEE invites you to participate in our e-learning training course on energy efficiency in food and beverage cold supply chains designed for experts and non-experts in this field. The course is accessible by anyone, free of charge and prepared for self-studying.
The platform selected for the e-learning has been Moodle as it provides several advantages versus other platforms, as the possibility to use mobile devices as smartphones or tablets.
The ICCEE e-learning includes the following contents:

]]>This year in order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, the conference was held online combined with on-site presentations from RTU scientists. Altogether we had participants from 24 countries, including South Korea, India, Mexico, also representing different universities from Latvia.
During the first two days of the Conference, scientists gave their presentations on their latest research and results. Following they had the opportunity to test their strength of generating new ideas and use of their knowledge in the creative group event “Apple Garden” and tried to build models to solve institutional capacity issues.
We thank everyone for their participation and shared energy during CONECT 2021!

]]>Processing of resources and production of innovative products is essential to get and use knowledge in cleaner production, environmental technologies, energy efficiency, waste management, and other aspects, using resources effectively and reducing a negative impact on the environment. Implementation of bioeconomy is a key to self-sufficient and sustainable cities and regions. Bioeconomy is an essential part of the circular economy.
Bioeconomy defines the aspects of bioresource use and technological problems connected with the bioresource extraction and processing technologies and new product uses and eco-design. Participants will get to know raw bioresources, processing industries, technologies, innovations, and product eco-design within the summer school. The summer school participants will learn bioeconomy from A to Z by practical examples of specific local resources.
Other topicality of summer school will be connected with the introduction of research methodology in bioeconomy: data collection, processing and analysis of results using different computer models (multi-criteria analysis, different models of regression analysis, geographical information systems and system dynamics modelling).
The goal of the summer school is to teach participants how to mitigate climate change by implementing bioeconomy, sustainable use of bioresources and creating innovations and spreading the knowledge in their countries. The summer school participants will gain knowledge, contacts for further cooperation, practical experience, and self-confidence in the bioeconomy.
